Michael Carroll _ Romanian Relief

Michael Carroll :

Michael Carroll founded the Romanian Relief fund in 1990 , to help children in orphanages who had AIDS. The orphanages had many kids and hardly any workers because the president had ordered every family to have 5 children . This organization helps to provide them with medical supplies , food , clothes , and toys to keep the orphanages running decently.
These Images are very compelling , because they make you want to go to Romania  and help these children yourself .

Photographs taken at Stage fort park:

Stop Shutter Priority: Post Assignment

The assignment was to take photographs using the stop shutter priority method to capture everything in the moment the photograph was taken. I looked to photograph people for this assignment , because it was easier than taking pictures of things that I would have to figure out how to move and take the picture at the same time.  The steps I took to accomplishing this assignment were to have a few people jump off of a ledge while I took continuous pictures, and then I picked the best 3 out of about 400 pictures. I believe that I could have improved my photographs by using a better background.

I like this picture because she has the cartoon effect of walking off of something and not
falling until you realize that there is nothing left to walk on.

I like this picture because it looks like he is falling from something higher than the ledge actually was (like
the roof of the school).

I like this picture because it looks as if her feet are still on the ledge when they are actually further away from
the ledge than they seem.

are fully captured in this photograph.

I like this photograph because it portrays an entire family during the depression era.

Pre-Assignment: Stop Shutter Priority

This assignment is to capture images of moving objects using the stop shutter priority method. For this assignment I plan to focus on people and animals, because I believe that animals and people would be easier to capture than inanimate objects that would have to be thrown or moved.

These are some inspirations I found for this assignment:

Post Assignment: Imogen Cunningham

I chose my three images because I liked the way the flowers looked , and I like the way one of them  has a painted effect. This assignment was easy because I just did a close up on the flowers and choose the three I liked the best. I could improve my image process by learning how to better use the iso and apature.

I like the light in the background of the picture , because it makes the flower seem closer than it actually is.

I like the darker flowers surrounding the white rose because it gives the image depth.

I like this image because the vase gives the flower a sense of depth behind it.

as if nothing in the photo (Branches) is as important as the flower.

I like this image because it has an effect of being painted when it is actually a photograph.

I like this image because it seems to stop time, I also like the fact that everything in the photo looks
as if the woman didn't even realize that the photograph was being taken.

Pre-Assignment : Get Close Event

For this event we are asked to focus on the depth of field in a close up image.Approaching this assignment I would like to capture the depth of field in flowers.
Post Assignment: Bad Photo Event

In this event we are asked to take photos with bad composition , bad white balance, bad light balance, all over blur , and subject blur. Post Assignment : Paul Strand

I chose my three images because I liked the way the light fell onto the buildings and I liked the way the light came through the branches of the trees. There weren't many challenges in this assignment because I just looked for the light in the images through the camera.

Pre-Assignment-

Paul Strand born October 16, 1890 and died March 31, 1976 in New York City. He worked in abstract photography and created his own motion pictures ,and In 1949  left for France's  film festival. He is important because of his abstract and depth of shadow works in photography. We were given an assignment to take photo graphs in the style of Paul Strand this means that we are to take photographs of people , things , and the depth of shadow behind the subject of our photographs. My approach to this assignment is to take pictures of light falling on buildings and close ups of plants.
