Michael Carroll _ Romanian Relief

Michael Carroll :

Michael Carroll founded the Romanian Relief fund in 1990 , to help children in orphanages who had AIDS. The orphanages had many kids and hardly any workers because the president had ordered every family to have 5 children . This organization helps to provide them with medical supplies , food , clothes , and toys to keep the orphanages running decently.
These Images are very compelling , because they make you want to go to Romania  and help these children yourself .

Photographs taken at Stage fort park:

Stop Shutter Priority: Post Assignment

The assignment was to take photographs using the stop shutter priority method to capture everything in the moment the photograph was taken. I looked to photograph people for this assignment , because it was easier than taking pictures of things that I would have to figure out how to move and take the picture at the same time.  The steps I took to accomplishing this assignment were to have a few people jump off of a ledge while I took continuous pictures, and then I picked the best 3 out of about 400 pictures. I believe that I could have improved my photographs by using a better background.

I like this picture because she has the cartoon effect of walking off of something and not
falling until you realize that there is nothing left to walk on.

I like this picture because it looks like he is falling from something higher than the ledge actually was (like
the roof of the school).

I like this picture because it looks as if her feet are still on the ledge when they are actually further away from
the ledge than they seem.

Minor White:

Minor White was born July 9 ,1908 in Minneapolis , Minnesota where he grew up, after going to college for 5 years he moved to Portland, Oregon where he started his career in photography. After moving he joined the Oregon Camera Club that exhibited his photographs in The Portland Art Museum . He died at age 67 on June 24 , 1976 as an abstract photographer.

I like this photograph because it captures city life in the early 1900's.

I like this photograph because it reminds me of Gloucester.

I like this picture because it captures the beauty of a flower that is long since dead .

Walker Evans:

Walker Evans was born November 3 ,1903 in St.Louis , Missouri and grew up to become a photographer very well known for photographing the great depression. He photographed poor farming families and their struggle during the great depression. The people in his photographs became the poster children for the Depression Era , in which many families were in poverty and sadness. In 1938 his photographs were put on exhibit in The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Evans died April 10 , 1975 as a well known depression era artist.

I like this picture because it captures the styles of the middle class during the depression era.

I like this picture because it portrays the worry of a mother during the depression , her emotions
are fully captured in this photograph.

I like this photograph because it portrays an entire family during the depression era.

Pre-Assignment: Stop Shutter Priority

This assignment is to capture images of moving objects using the stop shutter priority method. For this assignment I plan to focus on people and animals, because I believe that animals and people would be easier to capture than inanimate objects that would have to be thrown or moved.

These are some inspirations I found for this assignment:
